Joe Casal – Tattoo Artist, Borrowed Time Tattoo (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

Originally from New York City, I began drawing at an early age, inspired by comic books, cartoons, pop culture, and the vibrant street art scene of the ’80s and ’90s. In 1996, I began a traditional tattoo apprenticeship and tattooed alongside my mentor until 1998. After a brief detour working as a union elevator constructor, I continued tattooing whenever possible and ultimately returned to the craft full time in 2007 after relocating to South Florida.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the best in the business, constantly evolving as an artist. While I enjoy tattooing in a variety of styles, I specialize in large-scale, full-color pieces—particularly comic book and pop culture themes—and have built a strong reputation for effective cover-ups and reworks.

Today, I’m based at Borrowed Time Tattoo in Fort Lauderdale, where I continue to create custom work for a loyal and supportive clientele. I’m excited to bring my passion and experience to the convention floor.

When are you able to help out?
(For every hour that you Volunteer at the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention, Loose Screw Tattoo will give you free tattoo time. On Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Morning and Monday Morning you will receive $15 of FREE TATTOO TIME for every hour worked and on Friday Evening, Saturday and Sunday you will receive $10 of FREE TATTOO TIME per every hour worked)

We’re taking over the DoubleTree by Hilton Richmond – Midlothian and we're sharing our convention discount with you! Stay the night, enjoy the full convention experience, but most importantly, party safe knowing you can have a drink or two and don’t have to drive.

Each night is $193.80 + 3% processing fee. (Cancellations: 24 hours notice prior to check-in date is required. Cancellations after that point are subject to be charged a total of one night's stay. There is a $50 early check-out fee for any reservation that vacates the room early)
