Ink Fusion: Virginia Tattoo Shops Set to Shine at the Richmond Tattoo and Arts Convention
We can’t wait to watch Virginia’s finest tattoo shops converge at the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention this October 18-20 for the 36th annual event. As you know, the annual tattoo gathering features only the best tattoo talent in the world. We’re fortunate that so many of these incredible artists call Virginia home.
This October, several Virginia tattoo shops will showcase their talent, creativity and range during this Virginia tattoo convention hosted by Ink Master stars Jesse Smith and Ryan Ashley Malarkey. Studio Evolve

Studio Evolve is respected in the Virginia tattoo scene for its commitment to quality and a client-forward approach to custom tattoos. Founder and owner Gabriel Cece has been tattooing since 1995 and has been published numerous times in magazines, won awards at conventions, and developed a consistent custom-based clientele. The diverse team of artists who call the studio home are known for pushing boundaries and delivering top-notch ink to their clients.
Jack Brown’s Tattoo Revival

Jack Brown’s is full of heart and is an important part of Virginia’s tattoo community. As the oldest tattoo shop in Fredericksburg, it’s known to honor traditions and the culture of old school tattooing. Co-owned by former Richmond Tattoo Convention host Kenny Brown, his legacy lives on with a friendly and talented team of artists including Chance Kenyon, Kevin Murphy, Dustin Mugridge, Tony Talbert, Ike Shaver and Rob Scheyder. Inkredible Tattoo

The best Virginia Beach tattoo artists will be represented during this year’s Richmond Tattoo and Art’s Convention. The Inkcredible Tattoo team is bringing their award-winning squad. Mattlock Lopez specializes in painterly realism. Artist Burke Long is sought after for his black and gray realism. Tattoo collectors love working with Brian Allen for his pop culture creations as well as black and gray realism. We’re fortunate to have so many east coast artists joining together during one of the oldest tattoo conventions in the world. Slow Ride Tattoo Gallery will bring its Norfolk tattoo artists and rich waterside arts culture to the convention this year. Founded by Edward Alvarado and Patrick Loud, the Slow Ride team will bring its growing team to the Richmond Tattoo and Art’s Convention to offer custom illustrative, realism, black and gray, color and other tattoo styles to our exclusive 3-day event.
Quill and Talon Tattoo

Known as the “best shop in the 757,” Quill and Talon Tattoo will bring its colorful and award-winning tattoos to the Richmond Tattoo and Art’s Convention. From Ande Chambers’ full-color illustrations to Gonzo’s black and gray realism, this team is known for larger pieces and creating award-winning and imaginative compilations. This Charlottesville tattoo shop is known for being welcoming and friendly. Artists Ben, Dustin, and Andreas create a variety of styles including black & gray, Asian, realism, hybrid tattooing, and other intricate detail work. Ben Around Tattoos is named after owner Ben Miller. He says his favorite style of tattoo is what “makes the client happy.” Ben and his team are open to unique ideas and take pride in paying careful attention to the fit and flow of each piece. Blowing in from southwest Virginia, the Under the Sun all-female staff is bringing its a-game to the Richmond Tattoo and Art’s Convention. The shop’s artists are capable of delivering artwork in a variety of genres from black and gray realism to vibrant color work. Owned by “goddess of Ink” Abigail Bowen, she says her designs are “not merely ink on skin; they are talismans that ignite the divine spark within, beckoning forth the latent power and wisdom that slumbers in every soul.” She mentors a team of talented women, each with their own unique takes on tattoo and art.

on awards for their artwork. Just this year, owner Ricky Butler took home best Neo Traditional at the DC Tattoo Expo 2024. He’ll join the shop’s five artists at the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention this fall. Located outside of Winchester, Virginia, this Virginia tattoo shop offers custom tattoos, a never ending flow of original artist designs, and thousands of pages of flash tattoos. Jason McArty learned tattoos under his father Tom Painter and carries on his legacy today. He is a tattoo convention veteran. He’s become known as one of the DC area’s premier tattoo artists and is internationally awarded tattoo artist. Owned by award-winning tattoo artist Mitchell Baer, this Virginia Beach tattoo shop brings the heat every year at the Richmond Tattoo Convention. He is known for geometric tattoo designs, sacred geometry tattoo creations, and ornamental blackwork. Mitchell will be joined by his team of talented Virginia tattoo artists including Sirvone Smith who appeared on Ink Masters season 8. He is known for his saturated and colorful designs. We’re bringing a bit of the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia to the Richmond Tattoo Convention! Hot Rod Tattoo is located near Virginia Tech and is known for providing clients with high-quality, custom designs since 2003. Owner and artist, Shaun Carroll has been tattooing since 1996 is sought after for his Celtic knot designs and has taken home many awards at our annual tattoo convention. We’re excited for Carroll and his Blacksburg tattoo team member Graham Carroll to bring his detailed, realistic tattoos and Japanese work to the line-up of must-see and must-book tattoo artists.
Lucky Bird Tattoo

We had to give an honorable mention to this neighboring east coast tattoo shop. Award winning tattoo artist Parry Chotipradit is the proud owner of Lucky Bird Tattoo. He is best known for his large scale, unique, creative illustrative characters, animals and caricatures. Other shop artists Rodd Diaz, Tyler McKinney, George O’Haran, and Jesse Wilson are always fun to watch at work during the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention. From comic-style to new school designs they are always pushing the boundaries of creativity.
