The Vibrant Tapestry of Richmond Tattoo Shops Teaming Up for the Tattoo Convention

There’s a reason why one of the world’s oldest tattoo conventions takes place in Richmond, Virginia. That’s because of our vibrant tattoo scene, built of the best tattoo artists the world has to offer. This October, Richmond’s most elite tattoo shops will come together in inked expression, where art meets skin and stories unfold at the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention.

“This is an invite-only event,” says convention’s host Jesse Smith. “Only the best shops and artists fill the tattoo convention floors, so attendees know they are getting an elevated and curated experience. We’re just lucky so many of the best tattoo artists call Richmond home.”

This annual gathering celebrates the diverse tapestry of tattoo culture, showcasing the city’s finest tattoo artists and their masterpieces live and in-person. We’re shining a spotlight on some of the esteemed tattoo shops and visionary tattoo artists participating in this year’s event:

Loose Screw Tattoo

The official host shop of the festival, Loose Screw Tattoo is a beacon of creativity and innovation led by tattoo festival co-host Jesse Smith. A dozen tattoo artists call the shop home and create illustrative, black and grey, stippling, portrait, old school, and other styles of tattoo. The Carytown tattoo shop also regularly hosts high-demand tattoo artists from around the world in its Richmond studio. 

River City Tattoo

Owned by Jessica Simmons River City Tattoo is one of many female-owned tattoo shops that we’re excited to introduce you to at the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention. Throughout the city, River City Tattoo has grown to four different locations over the pas 18 years of business. In addition to tattoos, RIver City Tattoo will offer body piercing at the convention, bringing their glittering fine jewelry collection to browse, shop, and buy. SinnerG Tattoo Studio

Renowned for their bold designs and impeccable attention to detail, SinnerG Tattoo Studio artists bring a touch of rebellious darkness to the Richmond Tattoo Convention floor.  The studio also has a Witch Souvenir Store in their Arts District shop. You’ll enjoy getting to know the tattoo studio’s friendly and talented tattoo artists. They will offer a range of tattoo styles including fine line and black work to realism and abstract styles.

Reverencia Tattoo Studio

Reverencia Tattoo is a collaboration between tattoo artists Carmelo Gomez and Chelsey Ceja. Carmelo specializes in detailed black, grey, and neotraditional tattoos. Chelsey is a licensed esthetician and licensed permanent makeup artist who uses the nano hair stroke technique for her tattooed permanent eye liner, brow, and tinted lip designs.

Richmond Tattoo Club

A cornerstone of Richmond’s tattoo community, Richmond Tattoo Club is home to a variety of gifted local artists. The Arts District tattoo shop has a “groovy, mid-century modern interior” as noted by Venture Richmond, and they’ll bring that style and flare to the October convention. Its talented and creative artists deliver a variety of colorful, whimsical, and elaborate designs.
