Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the event taking place?

The convention is taking place in Richmond, Virginia at the DoubleTree hotel in Midlothian across from the Mini Price Storage and near the Costco.

Here is the full address: 1021 Koger Center Blvd, Richmond, VA 23235

How do I get tattooed at the convention?

There are two main ways to get tattooed at the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention!

  1. Prebook an appointment with an artist. This is your best bet at making sure you can get tattooed at the convention. All attending tattoo artists handle their own bookings so you'll need to reach out to them directly to check if they have any openings left. Just a heads up, all clients who make an appointment prior to the convention will still need to purchase a ticket for entry into the convention.

  2. Looking for "walk-ups". A "walk-up" is essentially just that, you walk up to an artists booth and ask if you can get tattooed. Some artists have designs that they will tattoo for a flat rate and others might even do custom pieces on the spot!

How do I find the right tattoo artist for me?

With over 180+ talented tattoo artists traveling from far and wide to attend this convention, odds are we have the right person for you! If you’re looking for a specific artist or style of tattoo, we've added a new feature on our Tattoo Artist page you won't want to miss. You can now filter by things such as style, if they're local to Virginia, or even straight up search for specific artists.

Where do I buy tickets for the convention? How much does it cost?

You can purchase your tickets here.

  • Tickets are sold both online prior to the event and at the door during the convention. We've got everything from day passes all the way up to our VIP Ultra tickets that come with 2 nights stay at the hotel!

  • Ticket prices vary based off ticket type and when you buy them. The earlier you get them the cheaper they are. Be sure to sign up for our mailing list so you don't miss our early bird specials when tickets go on sale.

Should I bring cash or use credit/debit cards?

We recommend going cashless when purchasing your admission tickets, parking, and official convention merchandise, as credit/debit cards are preferred and provide a faster, more seamless experience. However, when it comes to interacting with tattoo artists and exhibitors, cash is king! Many artists and vendors may not have card payment options, so bringing cash will ensure smooth transactions. Don’t worry if you need more cash on-site, we’ll have an ATM available.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes! This convention is family friendly and children under 12 years old get in FREE! We just ask that you do not leave your children unattended. Any child left unattended will be given energy drinks and taught to swear. ;)

  • There will be a kids’ activity area in the outdoor section of the convention, along with Kids’ Tattoo Competitions on all three days! Check the schedule for contest times.

  • More mature entertainment begins Friday & Saturday night at 8pm, so parents can use their own discretion on determining how late their children should be at the convention.

If you have any questions about anything relating to bringing your kids, don't hesitate to reach out!

What’s the parking situation?

Parking is $10 for a day and $15 for the weekend and can be purchased at checkout. For more information about parking check out the page here.

What isn't allowed at the event? Do you have a clear bag policy?

We ask that you refrain from brining weapons, alcohol, drugs or anything you wouldn't normally bring to a concert or restaurant.

That being said, feel free to wear costumes or Cosplay! We have lots of people who dress up. This convention is a space for creativity for everyone, not just our artists and exhibitors.

We do not have a clear bag policy.

Are hotel accommodations available for everyone?

All attendees are welcome to stay with us at the DoubleTree by Hilton all weekend long! To book your room, simply fill out this Hotel Application.

How do I join the convention as a tattoo artist, exhibitor, musician, etc?

This event is invite-only. However, we are always looking for talented tattoo artists, creatives, musicians, crafters, and businesses to join us!

Head over to our submission and waitlist page in order to put your name in.

Space is limited, but whenever we get an opening we go through people who filled out the submission form to send new invites.

How do I sign up to volunteer?

We’re always in need of fun, energetic, and positive personalities to help bring this convention to life! In addition to making new friends, you will also receive a limited edition Staff T-shirt, a weekend pass and FREE tattoo time at Loose Screw Tattoo!

How do I avoid scams?

We’ve received multiple reports of individuals requesting money from tattoo artists using a fake email account. Additionally, there are fraudulent social media accounts impersonating us and soliciting funds. If you ever have doubts about a request, don’t hesitate to contact us to double-check if something is legit.

Always double-check spelling as many scams will look legit but when you look closely you will see one of the letters in the account name, email, or link is flipped.

Our Official Email Addresses end in: @RichmondTattooConvention.com

If you find a scammer, please notify us and report them right away.
